Hi everyone,

I agree, I think 20-30 percent is a little high.  I would suspect that the
statistic is 3 years or so old.  Web browsing seems to have changed since
then.  I have family in a rural area that are using a 56K modem, but rarely
get more than 14K or 28K downloads.  They still surf with images on.
Partially because they wouldn't know how to turn them off and partially
because they enjoy the images (they haven't asked me how or even if they can
turn images off).

I do agree however that web sites should consider this.  For example, have
you tried to purchase a book from Amazon with images turned off?  Try it -
at least as of yesterday I couldn't purchase it.  I'm sure it was one of the
boxes with the little image icon in it, but which of the 4 or 5 in that area
of the screen it was, I have no clue.  BTW, for those interested, I had no
problems with Barnes and Noble, at least as far as adding it to my shopping
cart; I didn't go any further in the process.
