Hi Cherie,
The meta refresh on the first page made it tricky to review, but the one
thing I did notice is that the cute feline violinist is playing double
time - I suggest you slow down the animation quite a bit! I'm also not
sure that this page serves any purpose (other than showing that you know
how to use the meta refresh) - do you really need to include it? One of
the problems I've found is that I usually do many things at the same time,
so I'll click on a link, or type in a url, and then go and do something
else while the page loads. More often than not, I miss the first page
altogether if I'm redirected elsewhere.
On the next page, again the first thing that catches my eye is the
animation. It's really fast and very difficult to see what's going on. It
almost looks as though the cow changes into a dog once it lands on the
other side of the moon. And I'm not sure if it really fits in with the
rest of the site (what I've seen so far anyway). I would replace it with
the cat violinist and drop that previous page altogether.
I also think that this page needs to be more compact. You don't need to
put sample work and contact details on your introduction page. Rather put
links to that stuff (and to the rest of your site) near the top of the
page, so that people can see what there is to visit.
One thing you just have to take out is the blink tag - yucky! It looks
very unprofessional. If I was considering your services for my web site,
that alone would be enough to make me look elsewhere.
One thing I really like (being a big fan of cats myself) are all the kitty
quotes. They add interest and reinforce the theme. In fact you might want
to make a page where all the quotes are collected together, in addition to
dotting them throughout the site.
Things to remember:
- antialiase your images!
- don't mix too many font faces and styles.
- don't put too much onto one page - break your info up into user-friendly
chunks.
- go easy on the animated gifs - they distract the user from important
things like the content.
Hope this helps,
Lynnsey
PS: I would appreciate a critique of http://www.icon.co.za/~wushu/ if you
have the time.
