Hi Ed,

You've done a good job of making an attractive site without any graphics -
great download time! But is this a deliberate design choice, or due to the
lack of a graphic artist?

All in all, I'd say you're doing pretty well. But it's a big drawback to
tout yourself as a Web design company if you don't have any sites to your
credit. I suggest you start building sites for other people - even just 3
or 4 freebies for charities/friends' businesses/whatever will add some
credibility to your site.

In addition, your own site doesn't show off all the things you offer on
your services page. I'd be dubious about a company that listed such
impressive capabilities but showed no evidence of them, whether on their
own or on client sites.

Another thing: you say
"We are the most Appropriate Team to design your
website because, unlike most web designers, our
principals' backgrounds are in business. We
understand
that a website, like any other business tool, must
make a
positive contribution to the bottom line."

Now, at no point did I see anything to back that up, and tell me how
exactly you will build me a web site that makes money. And bear in mind
that most sites are purely marketing/advertising, and so do *not* "make a
positive contribution to the bottom line" in any *obvious* way, any more
than a newspaper or radio ad does. If you're going to build sites that
actually make (or save) money for the company, you need to be more
specific about how you plan to do that.

Other random suggestions (in no particular order):

1. Remove the border from the logo - table borders seldom look good.
2. The team page: I don't like the way you've done this, it looks a bit
random - as though you weren't sure what else to do with it.
3. The dictionary defn at the top of the home page is a clever (if not esp
original) idea - perhaps use a different font though, to make it stand out
a little more.
4. The way you've incorporated the links into the home page copy is great
- none of that silly "click here" nonsense.
5. I would re-order the links - the site map won't be the first place you
visit unless you *really* can't find anything. Also, they are not
consistent from page to page - this can be confusing when you are looking
for a page and you can't remember exactly where it was linked from.
6. Perhaps "team" should be broadened into "about the company"?
7. The "services" page looks odd - rather stick with the layout of the
home/tips pages - it works and you need to maintain consistency. The pink
blocks look especially odd.
8. Examples page: why put "Design Links" in quotes? None of the other
links are...
9. Rather than saying "Example 1", say "The first example" or something
similar - it reads better.
10. Example 1: on first glance this is just a lot of text with no real
incentive to read it. Make it more enticing by listing the relevant points
at the top, or bolding relevant parts of the text, or something.
11. The link to Example 3 is not working.
12. Home page: "it's design" should be "its design".

My stats:

NN 4.05
NT4
17" screen
1152x864, but my browser is sized to 640x480
Zillyuns of colours

Good luck!
