The 'after' version is, I have to say, much nicer looking (IMO) than 
the 'before' version.  I like the overall style of the site and it's 
consistent colour scheme.

Just a couple of small points, though:
1) People get confused if the Home button isn't at the top of navbar. 
 This is where people (well, let's not over-generalise -- *I*) expect 
it to be and finding it moved can be irritating.  I also suggest 
making the logo in the top left corner a shortcut to the homepage as 
well.

2) There are small gaps between the buttons in the navbar.  This 
isn't particularly visible once the background has loaded, but you 
may want to get rid of it anyway.  If this is the same problem that I 
had a while ago (in Netscape 6.x), this can be fixed by adding this 
style definition: img {vertical-align: middle;} to your style sheet 
(note: if this breaks other things, change it to img.navbar {vertical-
align: middle;} and add class="navbar" to the navbar images)
