After 3 months I'm still trying to get back to working on a new site for
myself. http://www.thewebguy.ca/newsite/
I'm looking for feedback on something I've added just recently only to the
home page. You'll notice a black number in the upper right corner (100).
This is the value for cycle time used by the counter running beside it that
cues all loads and changes. What's new is that I'm trying to get the page
to lengthen or shorten the cycle time according to performance of the
system that views it.
The page checks the system clock twice in the first six seconds (approx)
and then adjusts the cycle time. Slower systems will see the black number
drop and faster systems should see it increase.
I'd really like to know the new value you get and your processor speed,
RAM, browser, operating system, resolution and dialup/dsl/adsl/cable/etc.
Any other thoughts are also welcome.
javascript checks your flash plugin and writes page content accordingly
without a redirect. When completed people without the required plugin
version will get the html page. For the moment you must have the flash 6
player to see anything and I don't plan to worry about any 4.x browsers.
"Flash Demo Area" has no content.
This is not a frame or scene based swf. Everything is done with
actionscript. All the images and text body is loaded on the fly from jpg
and txt files. I stream the content to speed the load time and keep things
moving. The page scales to fill your window so it may behave differently if
you resize your browser.
Thanks
Steve
