It is not a requirement. However the answer is not a plain 'no' either.
Campaigning is very different from day to day activities. It is our task to
decide which one of you will serve us, the membership, and the Guild best.
By
being active one not only presents oneself to other members but also
actively contributes to the Guild.

Of course one cannot contribute if one doesn't have enough knowledge or
experience - the Guild welcomes everyone. Still, I'd like to think that
after one year a "newbie" should have learnt enough to, at least in a small
scale, begin to give back.

If, for whatever reason, one cannot contribute to the lists there are still
plenty of tasks one could do. The Guild is always looking for volunteer
labor.

According to the archives and other documents some of you didn't
make any contribution to the Guild whatsoever. I hope you understand my
concern.
