3D Web Animation Software?

Hi all,

I am in need of a program to help design some 3d web animations.  I have
used Simply 3D in the past, (just because it was on my machine already) but
the absence of web optimization and transparency is starting to get on my
nerves ;)

What have you all found to be good for this task?  I am running a Win98 PC,
and freeware/shareware is preferred if it exists, but I'm open to anything
at this point.
