imageiio.pe3 ???

In recent months I've been getting these odd
file showing up in my image folders . . .
I've deleted them and they show up again, and again, and again.

I've scanned for virus - nothing.

I decided to do searches for them - I get hits in the hundreds.

What are these files? 

imageiio.pe3
imageiio.pe4
imaginfo.pe3
imaginfo.pe4

Do they serve a purpose? I've never read anything about them -
