Hi Merike:

I enjoy FLASH sites and even tried my hand at using the free trial version
last year. However, the learning curve was pretty steep and I just didn't
have the time to invest in order to make a decision within the 30-day trial,
so, I dumped it and haven't looked back since.

The other detriment I had, and continue to have, to investing in the
programming and teaching myself its workings is lack of client support. My
clientele have not asked for FLASH sites. Most of my business clients want
the traditional "look" of a web site w/o the "FLASH" (pun intended). Since I
don't have the client support I can't justify the expense in money and time.

I still thoroughly enjoy FLASHed sites and I trully would love to be able to
use the program effectively. I think I could probably promote the idea of
its use to my clients if I had the depth of knowledge to use it and create
samples designed with my own hand for clients.

To my knowledge support materials (i.e. instructional publications and web
sites) for learning FLASH still are severely lacking. Many say the FLASH
"Help" files do a good job of teaching the program, but, I didn't find that
to be the case. I found the "help" files adequate as guidelines to plant the
idea of what is to be done and how it is to be accomplished, but, they
didn't "teach" the programming well enough to give me a working knowledge of
being able to create a "movie" (as they are called) and I am a quick study.

In short, view the sample links on the MM site. If you try the trial version
make sure you DL it at a time when you have nothing to do other than spend
30 consecutive days studying and playing with it because once it expires you
can't try it again. Don't look for aftermarket training sources, either
(unless there are classes somewhere) because there aren't any to my
knowledge.
