PS Numeric Transform Anomaly

Hi all.

I am trying to create a peace symbol. I have drawn a circle and a vertical
line from the circumference to the centre of the circle and then copied this
line twice. However, when I try to change the angle of the copied lines by
means of a numeric transformation they change colour.

I'm using Photoshop 4.01. The image is 72dpi RGB.

Would someone please tell me why this should be happening and how else I
might achieve what I'm after.
