I got a big chunk done on my design site. It's still only about
40% complete, but it doesn't give any 404s or anything:

Eastwind Design Group: http://www.ewdg.com

All the graphics are 100% originals... give or take a couple
manipulated classic photos. I'm going to change the big
graphic on the home (not the index) page, so don't freak
at how busy and ugly it is. ;o) You'll hit some "Under
Construction" pages, but I'm really diggin' on what is done.

On the subject of mouseovers, and kind of graphics vs. text,
I've never seen anything outside MSIE 4.0+ have full CSS
support.

If you have multiple browsers (and you'd better), then check
out:

Check out the text in the left frame. It only works properly
in MSIE 4.0+. Other browsers just keep the links from being
underlined, but don't do the neat mouseover stuff.

At www.djscifi.com, you'll notice that I used both CSS and
JavaScript. Kind of insures it all. However, NN won't change
colors onMouseOver for text, even with JavaScript. I use
something like:

<font face="arial, helvetica, sans serif" size="2"
color="ffffff" onMouseOver="this.style.color='aa7700'"
onMouseOut="this.style.color='ffffff'">

Does anyone see a reaon for NN not to read this?

I like text mouseovers whenever possible, as it is, obviously,
really great on memory.

Frames vs. No Frames

IMO:

If a site branches out a lot, or has important, or a lot of,
information, I won't use frames. Mainly because of
bookmarking, and it just gets you lost.

If a site has just one page per main menu item or maybe
only one menu beyond a main page, or is fairly small, or
is just something fun without a whole lot of important info,
I like to use frames.

These sites I did:

www.djscifi.com
www.spelaean.com/gallery

...use frames. I think it looks better, and it's actually easier
to move around the site with them.

But...

www.ewdg.com
www.wasfin.com

...don't use frames, because each area expands into another
area, or there is information that a visitor may want to bookmark.

It all just depends on the purpose of the site.

That's it for tonight. I checked out a ton o' URLs by you guys,
and there is some really great stuff. Who did that bgrafix site?
I was VERY impressed.
