:> I have a photo of a 3D medallion (sorry, can't show it to you online)
that I
:> want to superimpose text over. But any text color I use seems washed
out.
:> It's for use as a CD label. I've tried white, black, shadows (which
turns
:> the text gray)...Any experiences or ideas of what color makes the best
:> contrast with 3D gold?
By :-) coincidence, I just received this from CNet tips. HTH. Maggie

Today's Paint Shop Pro Tip: Make Your Text Stand Out
If your background image is upstaging your text and making it unreadable,
help your text project by lowering the contrast. Open a new file by
selecting New Image from the File menu, specifying the same dimensions as
your original image and set your Background Color to White. Cut and paste
this new image onto your original picture by selecting Paste/As New Layer
from the Edit menu. From the Layer Palette, set the new layer to Overlay
mode. Next, right-click the layer and select Properties from the pop-up
menu. From the Properties dialog box, adjust the Opacity level to 60 percent
or higher. This will mute the background and make the text more readable.
