Hello;
    I'm new to the list, but want to comment on this topic. First of all
there's been a lot of good opinions expressed on this thread. Look at all
the people that own cameras. How many of these are professional
photographers? Has it hurt professional photographers? Probably a bit, but
the industry still exists and flourishes.
    I am guessing there are a lot of amateur designers on this list - I am
one of them! So what would be a more constructive angle to this thread is;
what makes a good designer? How do you know if you've got what it takes to
take your skills to the next level and try your hand at doing it
professionally? How many of you started out as rank amateurs and have
created a great business?
