You should check out Ulead Photo Explorer.

It provides re-sizable thumbnails of all the image files within any
particular folder and allows you to output these in HTML, set them as
wallpaper, view them as a slide show which can also be output in HTML,
output them as a screen saver or output them as a calendar. You can also
configure the program so that you can open thumbnails in another graphics
program for editing.

I can't recall whether it's available on its own or whether its part of the
numerous packages of applications that Ulead put together. Check out their
site at www.ulead.com.

I think it's a very useful and well put together piece of software. It makes
my job a hell of a lot easier than it might otherwise be.
