I don't begin any logo or graphics work without getting a 50% deposit (or
full payment if under $250) up front.  Then I do send drafts via e-mail but
very small versions that would be pretty useless for them to steal.  But
even if they do (which has never happened yet), then I at least have 50% of
payment.  If anyone has problems with this, I have plenty of references to
ease their mind.  My portfolio is good and if they like my work enough and I
am a good enough salesman then this shouldn't be and usually isn't a
problem.
