I'm running 5.5 and don't seem to have this problem.  Suspect is has to do
with anti-aliasing.  O'Reilly's "Photoshop for the Web" covers this subject
in detail and explains it in 4.0, 5.0 and 5.5 contexts.

Perhaps someone running 5.0 can provide you the specifics.
