Camera ready

I have made an image that I want to use on printed material. Using a laser
printer (Brother HP-600) the quality is poor. Little dots rather than solid
colors.

Is there a trick to this? I reduced the image to 2 colors and no luck. What
is the best way to make an image camera ready for a print job?

It is a simple black and white image.
