Another alternative that I found very attractive is a digital camcorder that
will take still shots (I use a Sony Digital-8).  The resolution is fine for
the web (but not print) and you have almost unlimited capacity at 7 seconds
of tape per shot on a 1 hour tape.  Plus there is a better zoom and
night-shot capability.  It will require Firewire (IEEE 1394) on the PC.

Check out the photos at tlcrealtyinc.com and try to determine which were
scanned, which were shot with a high-end Mavica and which are camcorder
shots.
