Beginning in animated GIFs takes a little getting used to. You might want to
try using a GIF animator that rotates the images for you, such as Ulead's
gif animator (http://www.ulead.com).

Creating frame-by-frame images is tougher, because it takes a fair bit of
artistic ability. Remember when you were young and you made those animations
by drawing a slightly different picture on subsequent pages? That's pretty
much what it takes.

I haven't seen much in the way of tutorials on animated GIFs, just pretty
much get in there & get your hands dirty. It might not be worth it,
depending on how much time you're ready to dedicate to it. I made my first
animated GIF about a year and a half ago, and I'm only NOW starting to
produce stuff I'm proud of.
