I had the same problem using PSP and no experience of computer graphics =
before. As a couple of people have already said, make sure the image =
you are pasting the text into is 16.7 million colours.
You can do this from the menu (before you select the Text tool to paste =
the text into your image) by selecting [1] Colours \ Increase Colour =
Depth \ 16 million colours (24 bit), or, if you are starting a new image =
select File \ New and make sure the Image Type box has 16.7 million =
colours (24 bit) selected.
When you save "navbar_map4" as a GIF file , you will be prompted to =
reduce the image to 256 colours. You have to say "Yes" in order for it =
to save the image as a GIF (max number of colours is 256). If you then =
want to add a little more text to that image, increase the number of =
colours in the image *back upto* 16 million colours by using step [1], =
then save as a GIF again and reply Yes to the prompt.
If there is another way to do this that better maintains the image =
quality, perhaps someone on the list could advise us both.
