Pat,
I use a mouseover script like Maelynn (no, I'm no Javascript expert either,
I "borrowed" the script itself from Mike Davis, a friend who is also a
member of HWG). First I make a blank highlighted button, save it, then flip
it 180 degrees, and then save that under a second file name. Then I add the
text to both images. The "flipped" button becomes the OnMouseOver button.
You can see the examples at http://earl-arch.com. Feel free to use the
scripts. Please don't critique the site just yet because, at the client's
request, I did a rush job. It still needs a *lot* of work and validation and
I would hate to waste someones time in asking for a critique with all the
"problems" I know about still there. Perhaps in a week or so I will be
asking for input and suggestions. I like Maelynn's ideas about the drop
shadows. I already have it on the text of the buttons, but I like the idea
of shifting it for the "pushed in" images to enhance the effect. Remember,
the mouseover effect merely swaps images and the look of the effect depends
entirely on what the images are.
