2D to 3D Software

MetaCreation's Canoma package may be something you should look at.  
Basically, you load an image into the program and draw a wireframe around 
the part(s) of the image you wish to convert into a 3D model; Canoma handles 
the rest.  You can output the resulting model to several formats, including 
TrueSpace, VRML2 and AutoCAD.  (Some of the supported 2D formats are GIF, 
JPEG, PNG and TIFF.)

Canoma is available for about $500 USD at MetaCreation's Web site 
(http://www.metacreations.com), and I'm sure you can find it elsewhere.
