Hi Lou:

I picked up a copy of a great little scanning resource book called "A few 
scanning tips" from the creators web site (Wayne Fulton at 
http://www.scantips.com)--I don't work for nor do I have any relationship with 
Wayne other than a delighted customer.

Check out his web site for answers to some of your questions and if you 
need additional information on scanning, pick yourself up a copy of his tip 
book. I wouldn't scan without it!
