Yes, the grain is finer and the res higher for slide films
than it is for colour neg films (newer colourneg emulsions
are better than a few years ago).

I would imagine a competent lab could scan slides to photo CD.

I have no experience with photo CD though.

I would suspect that www.kodak.com would be a great place
to begin looking at photography on the web.

Try looking for Agfa, Olympus, Nikon, Pentax, or any of the
mainstream photography mags, they are all likely to have
web sites with some info that would help you.
