Another alternative would be to select all, create a new layer. Working
with the new layer, Select-> Modify-> Expand by 1 pixel, then fill with
your border color, Ctrl-D for deselect.

This makes a nice, thin, sharp border. Also works with small fonts.

If you want to keep the corners extra sharp, repeat this 2 or three times
to make it thicker, rather than choosing to expand it by 2 or 3 the first
time.
