Flash Questions: Phong Sweep & Inserting Movie

Hi;
1. I'm having trouble creating a phong sweep. This is where you have the 
effect of a light sweeping over a metallic logo. I've decided the way to 
create this is by making a mask of my client's logo and tweening a white 
bitmap with a dissipating alpha effect against a metallic background. My 
problem is that I've rebuilt my client's logo utilizing, among other 
things, a joined rounded rectangle and circle and _only_ used stroke width 
to produce color: no fill. Without fill, I can't create a mask. So, how do 
I convert the stroke to a fill channel? I have both PS7.0 and FW4.0.
2. I'm new to Flash, and I need to insert a movie instance into another 
movie. Search and study as I have I've missed how to do that. How do I 
create a *space* in one movie in which to insert another?
