Hi Beno,
I apologize if I misunderstand your question. I have Illustrator 9. The way
I symmetrically change one side of an object is to use the free transform
tool. After positioning the curser over a corner point, for instance, I
hold the left mouse button down and then add Control-Alt-Shift. The
sequence is important; you have to hold the left mouse button down first
and then apply the keys.
