Julie,

A spacer gif works fine, but only if you have a definite size to maintain.
When the point is to adjust the table to the size of the client's monitor,
then you need to force the table out to an unknown dimension.

Maybe this is offbase but, couldn't you use a transparent gif the size that
you need the cell to be?
