Video project due ASAP

This is a little off topic but if you can help...

My department has been appointed a project to find a video camera and
produce a small sound/video presentation - problem is we have never worked
in this area and have no idea where to start!

Can anyone make suggestions on:

	- digital video cameras (motion)
	- software
	- hardware
