Need a thick font face

To save myself lots of searching time, can anyone recommend a good thick font
(free of course).  

I want to use a graphic layer and cut the font out of that so it shows part of
the graphic.  I'm not sure how that's done, but I'll play around until I get
that figured out, unless some of you smart folks can tell me how to do it in
Photoshop.
