The problem he is encountering is the fact that he is relying on animated
GIFs for a synchronized animation.  Since he cannot guarantee that the
animations are all loaded at the same time or start at the same time.. or
even that the browser will animate each one exactly the same way each
time, he cannot ensure that each animation will match with the next one.
This idea could be very neat if javascript was used instead.  It would
take a little prodding, but take a look at an 'example' :

That example was my first attempt at Javascript, so the code probably
isn't very efficient :)  Also, it might give errors in browsers that
cannot process the Image object (IE 3.0 for instance)
