One of the beta testers for Opera who is also working on the Gutenberg
project should have my files now. The problem I had seemed to be related
only to loading the files from my hard drive into Opera 4 Beta 4 which is
what I do when I am working on the files. It worked using HTTP over the
Internet. If this problem can be replicated, then we probably have a bug. If
not, it probably has something to do with my computer. Opera 4 Beta 3 does
not have this problem with me.

Some of the current posted XML files for Gutenberg on the HWG site do not
parse in Opera. Sometimes it has to do with server settings. Under the
conditions that I was able to load my files into Opera 4 Beta 4 from the
Internet, I could not get Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 to load the files.
Our DTD is using a SYSTEM designation for the location of the DTD and I
believe in SGML systems that is normally used for access on a local
computer. Probably the final production post on the Internet should use an
HTTP address for the DTD location.

I just pulled an XML book file at random on the HWG site and it turned out
to be one you worked on.

This brings up one more question. Most Web browsers these days are on
Windows machines. They have default settings set at Windows colors. This
gives a Web page display, regardless of the encoding language, black text
with white background. A few years, Netscape used to have default settings
that gave a page a default middle gray background. I always reset my
browsers to give a gray background so I don't overlook noticing whether I
have set a page background for a Web page. None of the pages on the HWG site
seem to have a white background. They have colored text for headings, but
the background for the page is undefined in the associated CSS. Most books
are on white paper, or an off-white paper.

Try downloading a number of books from the
/opcenter/gutenberg/checkdoc1.html
site. {with the css). Run them from your hard drive.
Test them with Opera 4.0. You will find most
of them work without problems.

The problem I find is location.
Sometimes I can not get opera to run XML files (HWG site).
Sometimes I can not get netscape 6 to run XML (fortunecity.com)
Would this be the related to the route that info takes to arrive at my
computer?
Is the css, the dtd and the XML getting to me and my browsers
in a mixed or unlawful order?
Are the Browsers ignoring each others reading order?
