I am turning "The Art of Writing" by Robert Louis Stevenson
<ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/docs/books/gutenberg/etext96/artow10.txt> into
XML using "gutbook1.dtd" and "darwin.css".
Can someone suggest how I should handle notes within a block quote:
"(KANDL)", "(KDLSR)", etc., and "W. P. V. (9) F. (st) (ow)", "W.P. F. (st)
(ow) L.", etc., are all phonetic/rhythmic notations.
These are from Chapter I, Section 4. CONTENTS OF THE PHRASE:
Fifth (5th) paragraph:
'In Xanady did Kubla Khan (KANDL)
A stately pleasure dome decree, (KDLSR)
Where Alph the sacred river ran, (KANDLSR)
Through caverns measureless to man, (KANLSR)
Down to a sunless sea.' (6) (NDLS)
Twelfth and Thirteenth (12-13) paragraphs:
But in the wind and tempest of her frown,
W. P. V. (9) F. (st) (ow)
Distinction with a loud and powerful fan,
W.P. F. (st) (ow) L.
Puffing at all, winnows the light away;
W. P. F. L.
And what hath mass and matter by itself
W. F. L. M. A.
Lies rich in virtue and unmingled.' (10)
V. L. M.
Would I use the "misc" element?
Also, as you can see, there is a quote missing at the beginning of the 12th
paragraph. Per markup instructions, I will leave as is and note the
omission in the XML markup footnotes.
