I am a technical recruiter in San Francisco and I am searching for a Sr.
Technical Writer for my Silicon Valley client. My Client is a privately held
Internet Infrastructure Company that provides an entirely new class of
lightweight, collaborative applications through a new revolutionary
platform. This application can be created and used by individuals and
delivered in the inbox or browser, enabling people to assemble, communicate,
and collaborate independent of time, location and computing platform. This
company is extremely well funded by several of the top Venture Capital
firms, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Integral Capital Partners, to
name a few. The company is made up of second and third generation Internet
stars, many were heavy hitters from Sun.  The company is currently 165

Technical Writer

Responsibilities:
Write end user technical manuals (Users' Guide, API Guides) and online
contextual help.  Develop documentation plans for the release based on
Product Requirements and Engineering Specs.
Deliver end user documentation for the company.
Document the installation and configuration tools so customers can install
the product
Document the authoring tools so knowledge workers can use the product
Document the online help to improve the usability of the product
Work with Product Managers to understand the end users' documentation
requirements
Work with Engineers to understand the technical details of the tools,
including reading the code and writing examples
Provide editorial review of white papers, trainer guides, case studies and
ROI studies
Create style guides and templates and ensure consistency for documentation
Create a documentation plan for the release to communicate what end user
documentation we are delivering

Requirements:
Senior Technical Writer with 5+years experience in a technical field with a
preference for Web applications, platforms, or mail tool experience

Must have experience with various publishing tools(Frame
Maker/Word/PowerPoint),Web design tools (Dreamweaver/HTML/JSPs) online help
tools (Web Works Publisher/Robo Help), and access control tools(CVS). Must
be able to read code for acquiring examples. Previous experience creating
White Papers, User Guides, Programming manuals, and online help required.
Some editorial experience is useful.

Must have experience working simultaneously with multiple engineers.  Must
be comfortable with creating manuals from scratch rather than updating
existing manuals. Must be able to handle multiple projects.

Experience with graphic tools would be a nice but is not required
Some editorial experience is useful
Knowledge of Java, HTML and C++ is preferred to be able to read developer's
code to document the API and create examples
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
