You'll have to use CSS. Here is the webpage for the CSS 2.0 specifications,
scroll down a few pages for the table of contents, then just find the one
for tables.

---------------------------------------------
Hi all,
Is it possible to specify a background image in a table cell but not have
the image tile to file the cell. I want some thing like this
--------------------------------------
|
Part A | Part B
|
|
|
--------------------------------------
I want "Part A" to be a background image and "Part B" to just have a
background colour. But I want to be able to have text that spans across part
A and B
I can't just split in to 2 cells as the text in part B will not flow round
in to part A. I can't just put all the text in part A as at the moment the
background image in part A tiles to fill the area taken up by the text.
I would like for the result to work in IE, NS and the major Linux browsers
(if possible)
Thanks for you time and suggestions
Derek
