Hello all -
I'm new in here (though have been into h-basics); and i hope you can help.
Although i'm an experienced programmer, i'm not experienced in web-design;
I'm picking stuff up but often find people talking "over my head" - so if
you talk js at me, please be very explicit; I know promming terms etc and i
have a good solid reference book, but i don;t have the experience.
My problem (at the moment!) is cross-browser compatibility;
the line of code
-----------------------------
document.getElementById(myTableID).className
-----------------------------
Works fine in IE and NS and returns the className; but returns "undefined"
in Opera.
Can anyone tell me *why* this might not work, and how to work around it?
Also, has anyone got a link to some sort of reference that might tell what
js does and doesn't work in Opera and other browsers; or some way of finding
out the problem and solution if i end up with similar things later?
many thanks for any help anyone can offer-
hilma
