Try using float(10,2) - This allows for 10 total digits; 2 to the right
of the decimal and 8 to the left of it

I have a quick question.  If I have a database that has a column
designated
as int(8), I know that this limits the characters to 8 digits, but does
it
restrict characters to whole numbers?  I'm trying to enter a value of
3.50
through phpMyAdmin, but it keeps entering it as 3.

Do I need to designate the column as varchar(8) instead to accomplish
this?
