Boy, I recommend to anyone on this list who doesn't have IE3 on their
machine to go get it from evolt (and install it to a different directory
than c:\Program Files\Plus etc. etc.). I downloaded the 16bit for WinNT3.51.

It's been a while since I've had access to IE3 and was surprised to see my
brand new site design (due to launch in a few weeks) get completely broken
in IE3, even though I have it working in IE4-5.5 and NN3-6.

The problem I ran into was the use of images as backgrounds to table cells.
It completely hung the IE3 browser. I'm now adjusting my pages so that IE3
browsers won't load those images.

As I said to someone yesterday, IE3 accounts for a whopping four out of
every one-thousand user sessions for my site, but, well, it's just HTML
CODER PRIDE that still makes me want to make sure the page at least loads
and the text is accessible.

Well, you can install the 16 bit version, and you can get version 3.03 
from evolt.com:

Anyway, if you're trying to get image mouseovers to work, you're out of 
luck, as it's just not supported (a few builds on the Mac excepted). I 
keep a 32bit version of IE 3.02 loaded on a test machine, and it's 
almost completely useless these days.
