First, a clarification... is this a CGI ~hello world~ script? If not, that
would be your problem... a CGI script needs to write essentially a template
HTTP header, and then (typically) its content.

Unless you've a good reason to run PWS, I'd suggest that you've putting
yourself through a lot of agony. Download Apache, install it, and get on
with your life and your projects.

As far as PWS goes, you'll find situations similar to what you are going
through typical.. certainly a frequently-asked-question and then some.

With PWS 4 you should not need to make registry settings, and might just
leave things a mess if you are following instructions that apply to earlier
versions of PWS (nah, they are _not_ the same from version to version).

PWS 4 has a few GUI ~tools~ that should be able to set things up for you.
Personally I find them counter-intuitive... my best suggestion is to find
one of these people who go goodle-eyed with everything M$ says, take them
by the scruff of the neck, and let them show you how ~easy~ it is. <g>

Oh, yes, once you've gotten it running, then you're up against the fact
that it (PWS) is deliberately broken for a few key portability CGI
environment variables. If you want it to work correctly (to wit, in
compliance with the CGI specification) there is a M$ Knowledge Base article
that describes the fix, or at least discusses the fix.
