A HEARTY ROUND OF APPLAUSE goes out to those
of you who responded to my prior posting regarding
my perl script ailing on an NTServer.

Alas, it was rescued and is now in stable condition
on a production server.

THE CULPRIT: a support technician at a web hosting company.

THE CRIME: INSISTING (repeatedly) that he set file permissions (personally)
when, in fact, he HADN'T.

THE DAMAGE: many cups of coffee, and hours, wasted while pouring over code
that was entirely correct (and the horrors: the psychological damage...the
guilt...the self-doubt...all unbearable, all senseless, all easily avoided).
