I honestly don't know CF or JSP, but just an observation/comment.  When you
type in the tags in CF isn't the processor taking care or interpreting them?
So the "code" is hidden from the user and all they have to do is type the
tags.  A lot of the ASP shown is necessary for it to work.  Some of it we
have put into include functions.
I know these function exist and I could 'write' the same thing using these
premade functions in what looks like a lot less code than is in the article.
It's a matter of perspecive.  I like ASP because as I learn more I discover
how powerful it is while still being easy to pick up.

I'm a ColdFusion developer and love it, but then if I didn't I wouldn't be
doing it, so that isn't impartial.

This is hard for me to say, but by the sounds of it you will be better off
going the ASP route, but purely because your developers have VB backgrounds.
Neither VBScript nor CFML are hard to learn, but I'd guess that VBScript
would be a slightly easier (and quicker) transition.

Both will do what you want.

The closest I've found to impartial was an article in webtechniques a few
months back so you might want to check it out.  I'm reasonably sure it was
this one...
