Hello,
I am confused on this and being that I am no expert I thought I would ask
some.
I am attempting to setup some servers for my home office.
I have 2 linux machines (RH6.0) and 2 Windows machines (Win 98SE).
I want to utilize the 2 linux machines as servers,
I connect to all machines using a 4 port hub
1 for internal mail and the other as an internal web sever(intranet) for
testing of cgi programs.
I can access my web server machine no problem and everything works fine.
Where I am stuck.
I have to access the web server via calling the ip number.
I would like to access the machine just by calling it's name or damain name.
(please note these machines are not accessible to the internet!)
Also I cannot figure out how to setup the mail server.
So in all, I can't understand how to setup a DNS and SMTP.
Can some one point me to a reference that would be easy to understand or
offer some advice (besides giving it all up and destroying the machines)
Thank you
Mike
