Hosting on desktop

Hi,

I rank somewhere below a total novice on the subject of servers but have it
in mind to host my own web-site from my desk-top pc at home.

I have looked in the archives, (and have probably missed the info), but
could someone let me know what would be involved?  I would want to run asp,
active-x, e-mail etc
