Late to the party but just a thought.
Would the directory work if was not defined as a virtual directory. My not
be the fix but worth a try.
Two thoughts about IIS and Apache.
I will assume Apache is on Unix/Linux, while IIS x.x is on an NT platform.
That said, do some research on the up time of these two platforms. I think
you will find that NT needs at least a weekly reboot. Some progress with
Win2k but not there yet. If your situation moves you into the
multi-processor arena, I think you will find that Unix/Linux makes better
use of this as well. And last but not least, ever try to firewall an n-tier
environment built with NT. Forget mapped drives, domains, etc. They
require that ports 137, 138 and 139 be opened. These are a hackers dream.
Win2k and future products are moving away from this. Maybe someday they
will get there.
BTW, I make my living on NT products.
