What are the NTFS permissions on the directory and what are the
permissions on the default page, what authentication methods are you
using and is your user account an administrator either on web site or on
the windows domain. Is the password for the anon user synched and is the
name of the anon user correct? --if it's *exactly* the same as your
public site, it won't be :-)  The answer lies in one of those areas.

Why not enable auditing on file and object access and then audit the
folders and docs in question to see what's happening. Include more info
in the IIS logs also and it may give you a clue.

If its IIS5, on the admin site, you should get a 403 if there is no
defdoc and no dir browse, that's how it works.

Are you using VID or FP extensions or some other tool with it's own
security. FP is notorious for messing up perms.
