[I'm cross posting this because I think both communities might know the
solution]
To all,
"Nothing but vexation and consternation," as Jane Austen would say.
I'm talking, of course, about trying to get a simple Perl script to run on
IIS.
The following code:
open VISITORS, ">> ../visitors/visitors.txt" or
die "Content-type: text/plain\n\nCan't write to file";
runs fine on ActivePerl 5.22 & Apache (Win32) in Win98, runs fine in Perl 5
& Apache in Linux, but only the second conditional obtains, and writes the
error message.
Given the fact that the script works fine on any non-IIS installation, I'm
inclined to think this has something to do with how NT/IIS handles R/W
permissions.
If you can find it in your heart (and head) to help this desperate brother,
I will greatly appreciate it (alas, I'm too poor for a monetary reward).
