Answered my own question. It appears the log date can freeze if the web
server runs for more than 49 days without being restarted. Wonderful.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? This happened to me back in May,
and I had meant to check our log file regularly to make sure it wasn't
happening again, but unfortunately I was out of the office for the last week
and today I looked at the log and saw it still had a file date of 7/14. The
log did not stop logging visits to the site, it's just that every entry in
the file now has the same date stamp.

This is screwing up my log reporting (as you can imagine), especially when
it comes to user sessions and page views.

Any insight into how I can prevent this from happening again? (Please, no
"get Apache" advice.)
