I have a server I've inherited onto which I'm trying to put a basic web
site. Nothing fancy, really only five or six html pages and some basic ASP
scripts. The trouble? Whenever the browser attempts to access one of the ASP
scripts (whether called from a form or by directly requesting the ASP page)
the entire system hangs. By entire system, I mean that IIS stops working
completely, and, when I attempt to shut down the PC and restart, the system
hangs during shutdown. Ugly.

Like I said, the behaviour even manifests if I reboot, then call a simple
"helloworld" script from the cgi-bin. However, it doesn't seem to matter
where the script is.

I've had our resident ASP expert look at the setup and he is also at a loss.
I'm about to throw in the towel and re-install IIS from the ground up, but
am hoping someone out there has faced a similar situation and can offer
ideas on what to check out or look at.

Looking at the version of IIS, it seems to be the most recent (4.0), but the
management console is only 1.0, not 1.1. NT is up to SP5.
