Site monitoring services

Can anyone recommend a good service that will monitor a web site to make
sure it is up and running, and then report problems immediately to the
webmaster (me)?

I just need basic services, nothing fancy. As always, free, nearly free or
bargain priced services would be appreciated.

(But PLEASE, no quoting prices to the list and NO BASHING of services others
recommend. I'll do my due dilligence before I sign on with anyone.)
