Ok, thanks. I saw that, but it didn't feel like what I wanted to do. I
should dig more. I think I wanted to include the output of a script or

No intention of doing that. I wanted to put a search box without
modifying every html file sitewide.

Yes, but that means renaming all files to .shtml or whatever your
server uses, changing all links, and waiting for the change to
propagate. Instead I used XBitHack. I could have also set .html to be
the SSI extension but the docs warn not to do this for a good reason.

I suppose I could do the same thing I do with my online site and
concoct perl scripts to statically take templates and things and spew
out the static html files. And re-invent macros in the process.

AddHandler looks like the best way for me right now.
